The fka participates in all subprojects of PEGASUS, being thus focused on the first and third subprojects.

At the DLR Institute for Transport Technology Systems, 170 scientists are working on future-oriented solutions for the road and rail transport carriers. In the research area of automotives, interdisciplinary teams are developing and testing innovative assistance and automation systems for the roads. Together with Volkswagen, DLR undertakes the overall coordination of PEGASUS and is involved in all PEGASUS subprojects, focusing on scenario analysis and quality measures as well as testing.

QTronic GmbH
QTronic GmbH

QTronic delivers tools and services for the virtual validation of vehicle functions.

Silver is a tool for the development and execution of virtual control units. With Silver, development and testing tasks can be transferred, from the test drive, test bench and HiL to Windows PC, where, for example, a higher test throughput (calculates faster than real time) is presentable.

TestWeaver is a tool for the highly-automated testing and the validation of vehicle functions. TestWeaver independently generates thousands of driving scenarios with parameter variations, implements these for simulation and assesses defined quality requirements. This allows for a high testing coverage with a comparatively low specification effort.

In PEGASUS, QTronic works as part of the third subproject (testing).

Technical University of Darmstadt – FZD

The specialist department of automotive engineering at the Technical University of Darmstadt (FZD) currently includes, in addition to the head of the department Prof. Hermann Winner, 19 academic and 8 technical-administrative employees. In addition to the development of experimental vehicles and the creation of complete testing facilities, the usage right of the former August-Euler airport as test track represents a particularity of the specialist department. The institute is involved in subprojects 1, 2 and 3.

VIRES has a strong background in the standardization of data descriptions for the simulation (OpenDRIVE, OpenCRG, OpenSCENARIO). The portfolio of VIRES is included in the VIRES Virtual Test Drive (VTD) product group. VTD will be used as simulation and testing platform for the design, development and protection of driver assistance and active safety systems. The focus is on the third subproject.

The Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt) is the technical & scientific research facility of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI). With its research results, BASt provides scientifically-supported, decision-making tools, regarding road and traffic policy issues. Moreover, BASt is decisively involved in the development and harmonization of national and international directives and norms. Since 1970, BASt is also the focal point for road traffic research in Germany, as well as test laboratory at Euro NCAP, in particular also for systems regarding automated emergency braking and tracking. Within PEGASUS, BASt is involved in all four subprojects.

dSPACE develops and distributes integrated hardware and software tools for developing and testing electronic control units and mechatronic controls. dSPACE systems are used in the automotive and aerospace industries as well as in drives technology and other industrial sectors. The company's customer base includes virtually all major vehicle manufacturers and suppliers.

In PEGASUS, dSPACE is involved in the third subproject (Testing) and supports the consortium with its overall expertise in software-in-the-loop (SIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing. Moreover, it contributes its integration and simulation platform VEOS as well as plant and environment models from the dSPACE Automotive Simulation Models (ASM) tool suite.

Founded in 1991, OFFIS – the Institute for Informatics – is an affiliated institute of the Oldenburg University and employees around 250 people. It is an application-oriented research and development institute, a “center of excellence” for selected themes regarding informatics and its fields of application. Within PEGASUS, OFFIS is involved in the subprojects 1, 2 and 4.

Open Simulation Interface

Open Simulation Interface (OSI) is now officially part of the PEGASUS project. OSI provides the standard for a generic interface connecting the development of automated driving functions and the variety of driving simulation frameworks in order to achieve easy and straightforward compatibility.
